On this tour, you will have the chance to explore the unique architecture of this period, as well as learn about what life was like for early English colonists as they adapted to life in the settlements. By focusing on the women who inhabited these homes, you will walk away with a better understanding of how daily life changed over time in this once-rural part of Massachusetts.
Join us for a walking tour of the Nathaniel Felton Senior and Junior houses on Felton St., Peabody, Massachusetts. These houses are a unique window into the lives of Peabody’s women. Eleanor Felton crossed over the Atlantic from England to Salem in 1635, alone, with her three children. With every generation of Felton, and later Smith, these two houses would grow. Today, they are two of the oldest continuously standing homes in Essex County.
These tours will be held rain or shine, the buildings are not climate controlled, and the floors are uneven so be prepared to walk carefully and dress for the cool weather. On September 24th, we will be offering three tour times. Please reserve your spot in advance!
